Sliver - A Review of the New Sliver Set

Sliver - A Review of the New Sliver Set

sliver set

Slivers have been around since the beginning of Magic, but they’ve gone through some rough patches over the years. Initially, they were bumped out of design because they buffed all their kin including those controlled by your opponents (resulting in memory issues and other quirks of gameplay), and later neo-slivers that only buffed sliver creatures you controlled proved to be not very popular either. But this set looks like it could breathe some fresh life into the sliver concept, with a couple cool cards that offer new options for slivers, some interesting ways to boost their power and toughness, and an overarching theme of sliver swarms fighting back against the hivemind.

The most important card for the slivers, this green-mana common lets any sliver you control get +1+1 for each of your other slivers that block it in combat. A great way to keep your sliver army healthy, this card will likely see heavy play.

Another good card for slivers, this blue-mana uncommon gives each of your sliver creatures an extra point of toughness when it deals damage to a creature or player. This is an easy card to include in any slivers deck, and a nice one-drop to boot.

I really love the look of this sliver, and it’s a shame they didn’t take this direction with the whole line of them. This card is spiky, spooky, and pretty cool looking, a nice break from the mold of other slivers that have been seen before.

While this is a good card, it’s not as strong as some of the other options in the set. It is still a solid addition to any sliver deck though, especially with the new abilities we’ve seen in this set that allow you to create and re-create slivers.

This sliver is pretty cool, but it’s a little bit slow for a Sliver swarm. That being said, it’s a great way to make your slivers more powerful and can help you hit your land drops more consistently. Plus, it’s a two mana card that does something important, which is always a bonus.

While I don’t know that this will see much play in the format, it is a cool card. It’s a bit slower than the other slivers, but it’s still an effective way to make your sliver creatures more powerful. It also works well with some of the other slivers in this set, such as Sliver Gravemother and Encore. It can be hard to find good land drops in the format, but if you have a lot of Slivers, this card can help you get them out quickly. Also, this card can be combined with Slivers of the Forest and Sliver Hive to give you a decent amount of mana for your sliver swarm to start attacking.
